Composing the official Soundscape for Siemens' 150th birthday in 1997 was a great project that culminated in three events. 1) There was the exciting feature film "Fantasy for a New Age"with an earwormlike Main theme. 2) There was an international festive banquet soiree in the Berlin ICC with thousands of guests and - polystilistically - six music ensembles from Australia, Africa, China, North America, South America and Greece, 3) and there was a multimedia final concert "Global Symphony" (composed together with Martin Ernst/Cologne) in the ICC for 5000 guests, in which musicians from all continents of Japan, Sidney, New York, Cape Town played simultaneously - at the same touching moment - via satellite with the Symphonie-Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin (conducted by Johannes Wildner). It was a demonstration of Siemens telecommunications technology in the sense of "We are a global family" with exciting and touching results.

Introduction: Composing the official Soundscape for Siemens' 150th birthday in 1997 was a great project that culminated in three events. 1) There was the exciting feature film "Fantasy for a New Age" (director: Richard J. Caesar) with an earwormlike Main theme. 2) There was an international festive banquet soiree in the Berlin ICC with thousands of guests and - polystilistically - six music ensembles from Australia, Africa, China, North America, South America and Greece, 3) and there was a multimedia final concert "Global Symphony" (composed together with Martin Ernst/Cologne) in the ICC for 5000 guests, in which musicians from all continents of Japan, Sidney, New York, Cape Town played simultaneously - at the same moment - via satellite with the Symphonie-Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin (conducted by Johannes Wildner). It was a demonstration of Siemens telecommunications technology in the sense of "We are a global family" with exciting and touching results.
After the 40-minute concert, including live video transmission from all continents, which culminated in the song "Visions" (sung by musical star Patricia Nessy; lyrics by Rainer Wallraf), we all fell into each other's arms close to tears: we had not really thought it possible to do the live mix (audio & video) on the 15-metre-long mixing console that spanned the entire continent... It was an emotional explosion and - after 2 months of international rehearsals - a dense compression of musical expressiveness that we all could never forget: a climax of musical density.
My personal highlight, which was a decisive soft spot in my biography, was the meeting with the Chinese sheng soloist Wu Wei, with whom I have been working since 1997 and who had opened the fascinating "Gateway to China" for me, ...since then, five concerts for sheng and orchestra have been created with performances in Beijing, Xiamen, Shanghai, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Hong Kong, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Singapore, among others.
