Introduction: The oratorio is centred on the trinity song of Martin Luther 1524 WIR GLAUBEN ALL AN EINEN GOTT (We all believe in one god). The three verses oft he song refer tot he three articles of faith with Father, Son and Holy Spirit
In each verse oft he lutherian song we have juxtaposed a free and non-liturgical text: In Part 1 it is a glorification of God by the astronomer, natural philosopher, mathematician and theologian Johannes Kepler (1571-1630). In Part 2 it is a eulogy (ex: „Poems from the resistance“) of Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945), which he wrote shortly before his assassination by the Nazis; he was in dungeon custody full of pain and doubts. The context in Part 2 is the existential question of „Why?“ and „My God! Why did you forsake me?“. Part 3 about the Holy Spirit names the symbols of baptism, - the dove and the water. But mainly this Part 3 offers the Spiritus Sanctus with ist roaring energy: the commentary oft he mystic Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) „Der Heilige Geist ist Quelle des Lebens“ (The Holy Spirit ist the source of Life) thematizes the burning and glowing oft he wild fore and is leading to an impressive finale.
